New guidelines set for location privacy on mobile phones - Spatial Source
"The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) has released new industry guidelines to help promote the privacy of people using location-based services (LBS) on mobile devices.
AMTA chief executive officer Chris Althaus said a number of commercial location-based services using mobile technology are already on the market with more services expected soon."

Great blog, very interesting and raises some very serious questions. I find the new technology terrifying in terms of privacy issues and these location finding devices that you describe are a real worry. The other issue is that you have to be tech saavy to know how to turn off these sort of things. I would have thought this a breach of privacy legislation in Australia even if they don't have the same sorts of laws in other countries.
ReplyDeleteHm... apparently my comment will be visible after approval. Apparently I said something contoversial - oh my!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments :) yeah, after a particular experience on facebook I tend to moderate comments - flaming is not fun! It's mostly where work/employers/colleagues/other have access to goings on that are sort of more 'private' in nature. Once bitten, twice shy!
ReplyDeleteThe thought of someone (other than the police) being able to track me down on my mobile phone is not a happy thought.
